Our Mission

Connecticut College's Sports Medicine Staff, which is comprised of four full-time Athletic Trainers that are nationally certified and licensed by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health, practices under the direction of our team physician.  The evaluation and care of injuries and medical conditions are based on standing orders that have been established between the team physician and the Connecticut College Sports Medicine Department.  NATA Position Statements, the NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook, and professional best practices serve as the basis for policy decisions.

Mission Statement:
Connecticut College Sports Medicine strives to deliver only the best health care for all of our patients.  Our mission is to provide medical care and coverage for Connecticut College's intercollegiate athletics program. We are committed to the development of a safe intercollegiate athletics program by protecting the health and well being of our student-athletes.  While we recognize the student-athlete's desire to participate in intercollegiate athletics, it is our responsibility to ensure that the health and long term well-being of the student-athlete is paramount in our decision to return the student to athletics following an injury.  Our utmost concern is always the physical and emotional health and well being of each individual student-athlete.

We carry out this mission by delivering healthcare services to our intercollegiate student-athletes, including: preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic interventions, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions while adhering to state and federal laws and our professional Code of Ethics.
